We have introduced a new digital system to manage environment effects statement (EES) process more efficiently. It aims to reduce assessment timeframes to 18 months. This means quicker decisions for projects that may affect the environment, while keeping the process transparent.
The system is a key outcome of the Energy Digital Transformation initiative and supports the Economic Growth Statement initiative to cut red tape and make it easier to do business in Victoria.
How it works
The system has been built for Victoria’s planning needs and sits on the Application Hub, the central online space for planning guidance across the state.
It supports the updated EES Ministerial Guidelines released in late 2023 and replaces manual steps with a digital approach.
Key features include:
- integrated document reviews
- customised task tracking
- secure document sharing
- clear guidance and support for each stage of the process
- ready-to-use communication templates.
Why it matters
The new system makes it easier for government, industry, and the community to collaborate, track progress, and access real-time reporting through interactive dashboards.
Access the system
The Environment Assessment System is available for all projects requiring an EES, through the Application Hub.
