Mapping cultural values

Pilot Project - Bulleen to Banyule Flats reach of the Birrarung

The project commenced in 2018 with the pilot focusing on the highly significant Bulleen to Banyule Flats reach of the Birrarung. Led by the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Corporation, the Bulleen-Banyule Flats Cultural Values Study was completed in 2020.

The Bulleen-Banyule Flats Cultural Values Study

The Bulleen-Banyule Flats Cultural Values Study is helping the Traditional Owners to actively care for Country and providing a basis for the ongoing protection and enrichment of cultural values through land use planning and management processes.

A summary report will become publicly available in late 2020. A full report is available to selected stakeholders upon request from the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Corporation and DELWP.

DELWP has committed funding to partner with the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Corporation to undertake further cultural values mapping along the Birrarung, with the next stage to commence in 2021.
