Overview
Launch Housing applied for permits for the development of transportable homes on land at 121 Ballarat Road, 125 Ballarat Road, 175-177 Ballarat Road and 185-189 Ballarat Road, Footscray (Permit No TP676/2016(1), TP772/2016(1), TP785/2016(1) and TP795/2016(1).
The proposal seeks approval for:
- the development of 27 transportable dwellings; and
- reduction in car parking.
Maribyrnong City Council issued a Notice of Decision to Grant a Permit for the permits in March 2017 and April 2017, and appeals to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) was lodged in April 2017 and May 2017 seeking a review of the decisions.
The Minister for Planning called this matter in from VCAT pursuant to Section 58(2)(a) of Schedule 1 to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act 1998.
Purpose
The Minister appointed an Advisory Committee on 6 November 2017 pursuant to Section 151 of the Planning and Environment Act 1987 to provide advice to the Minister in relation to the determination of the applications for review P836/2017, P840/2017, P1090/2017 and P1091/2017 called in from VCAT.
The role of the Advisory Committee is to:
- Give parties to the VCAT proceeding an opportunity to be heard in an independent forum in an informal, non-judicial manner
- Give independent advice to the Minister for Planning on the matters outlined in the Terms of Reference.
