Planning permit activity system reports

As part of our digital planning reforms, we are upgrading the Planning Permit Activity Reporting System (PPARS) to improve the collection and reporting of planning permit activity data from Victorian councils.

The first stage of the upgrade is the public release of a new interactive reporting dashboard making it easier to access and understand planning permit activity in Victoria.

Legacy reports

New reporting intends to replace the previously provided reports however these will remain available in the short term and can be accessed below.

If you find limitations in the new reports which require you to leverage existing reporting please provide feedback by contacting Planning Support.

How to use the reports

The data dictionary standardises the reporting of planning data by councils. See the data dictionary and quick reference sheet below for more information.

PPARS reports allow you to filter data by a sub-regional level. A list and map of the planning schemes that comprise each grouping can be found in the information sheet below.

PPARS report dashboards allow you to view monthly, quarterly and annual reports of planning application data.

PPARS report dashboards are updated fortnightly with data from the PPAR System, responsible authorities typically submit their data once per month to target reporting updates of the 15th of each month.

Annual activity reports have been published annually since 2004. In 2012, the Department moved to solely online publication of the data.

Reports produced in 2015 and prior are available to view or download in PDF format on request.
