Tips to get the most out of this template

For this tool to be most effective at your council, we recommend:

  • customise the tool to reflect the relevant information for that internal referral request
  • ensure the template is well understood by planning staff and staff from the internal referral departments who will receive the request
  • store a copy of the tool where it can be easily located by planning staff to fill in and send as required
  • remove any implementation notes, or highlighted text prior to publishing the template.

Having a clear, easy to follow referral request will increase consistency in requests across planners and assist referral recipients with their understanding. This in turn will result in more complete, and high-quality referral responses.
