The role of the panel was to review the application to amend the planning permit issued for the use and development of the Woolsthorpe Wind Farm.
The Minister has appointed a Panel which consists of Nick Wimbush as Chair.
In April 2008, following the consideration of the Panel Report for the proposed Woolsthorpe Wind Farm, the then Minister for Planning issued Planning Permit 2006/0220 for the use and development of a wind energy facility.
In December 2016 - January 2017, public notice of an application by Woolsthorpe Wind Farm Pty Ltd to the Minister for Planning to amend Permit Application 2007/0220 was given. At the time of referral to the Panel, 7 submissions were received.
In February 2017, the Minister appointed a Panel to consider the application to amend the Permit and the submission received in response to it.
The Application is to amend Planning Permit 2006/0220 to:
- Increase turbine height from 135m to 168m
- Increase tower height from 90m to 98m
- Increase the blade length from 50m to 70m
- Provide a new site entrance from the Woolsthorpe – Heywood Road
- Reqire noise to be compliant with the contemporary standard
- Introduce a secondary consent mechanism
- Other minor amendments

6 March – 7 March: public hearings took place at Dialogue (Brussels Room), 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
The Panel has 20 business days from the last day of the Hearing to submit its report to the Minister for Planning.
