Introduction
This page will take you through the steps for requesting an Exemption under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 or from Ministerial Direction No.15

Steps
There are two parts to this process
- Lodging the exemption request
- Checking the decision
Choose the option you want from the drop down below.
1. Login to the ATS system
2. Use the Search Field in the ATS dashboard to find your amendment.
3. In the Action column, click on the Choose Action dropdown menu and select Exemption.
You will now be taken to the Details of exemption request form.
4. Select the Exemption request type from the drop down.
Note: If request type Exemption Section 20(1) is chosen and additional field Section 20(1) Detail appears, you will need to check at least one box.
5. Enter the reason for the exemption request.
6. Upload any supporting documentation using the Upload Now button.
7. Click Submit.
The Planning Authority contact for the amendment will receive an email with details of the Exemption request:
The Department Planner will review the exemption and determine the request. Use the next part to guide you through checking the decision.
1. Login to the ATS system
2. Use the Search Field in the ATS dashboard to find your amendment.
3. In the Action column, click on the Choose Action drop down menu and select Details.
The Amendment Details page will open.
4. Scroll down to the Exemption section
5. The Exemption decision column shows the decision
6. You can click on Open Form for more detailed information on the decision
