The role of the panel is to review the permits issued for the use and development of a wind energy facility and the removal of native vegetation. The panel is also reviewing the amended application.

On 30 April 2009, following the consideration of the Panel Report for the proposed Lal Lal Windfarm ((PDF, 1532.25 KB)), the then Minister for Planning issued Planning Permits PL-SP/05/0461 ((PDF, 343.52 KB)) for the use and development of a wind energy facility and 2008/208 ((PDF, 224.37 KB)) for the removal of native vegetation.
In December 2015, public notice of an application by WestWind Energy to the Minister for Planning to amend Permit Application PL-SP/05/0461 for the wind energy facility (but not the removal of native vegetation) was given. At the time of referral to the Panel, 222 submissions were received in response to that public notice.
On 13 July 2016 the Minister appointed a Panel (to replace the Panel appointed on 22 December 2015), to consider the application to amend the Permit and the submissions received to it.
On 15 August 2016 WestWind Energy submitted an amendment to the application ((PDF, 5198.39 KB)).
This amended application is the version that will be considered by the Panel.
A Directions Hearing was held on 29 July 2016. The Directions issued by the Panel following the Directions Hearing ((PDF, 140.24 KB)) are provided here.
The Panel issued further Directions on 19 October 2016 ((PDF, 365.72 KB)).
The Public Hearings will commence on Tuesday 8 November 2016 and conclude on Friday 18 November.
