Overview

The Minister for Planning will appoint an Inquiry to assess the potential effects of the proposed Golden Plains Wind Farm Project.

WestWind Energy Pty Ltd proposes to construct a wind farm comprising up to 228 wind turbine generators at a maximum blade tip height of 230 metres. The project is located in Golden Plains Shire about 60km west of Geelong, generally to the west, south and south-east of the Rokewood township.

The planning permit application is to use and develop a wind energy facility and associated infrastructure, buildings and works: use and develop a utility installation and associated infrastructure, buildings and works, remove, destroy or lop native vegetation, alter access to a Road Zone 1 and business identification signage.
