New Urban Design Guidelines and Apartment Design Guidelines have been released to provide guidance for design quality and excellence in developments across Victoria.
The Urban Design Guidelines focus on building design and public spaces, and combine a number of existing urban design resources into one easy to use set of guidelines. They are available as an interactive web resource.
The Apartment Design Guidelines focus on the internal amenity of new apartments, and will assist with the design and assessment of proposed apartment developments, providing design tips for the application of the Better Apartments Design Standards that were introduced in April.
A Buyers and Renters Guide has also been released to help consumers make informed decisions about apartments based on the design standards. And expressions of interest are open for a new Design Advisory Service, which will offer expert advice to councils and developers on applying the Better Apartments Design Standards in complex apartment developments.
