The 20-minute neighbourhoods program is a key implementation action of Plan Melbourne 2017-2050
The 20-minute neighbourhoods program is a key implementation action of Plan Melbourne 2017-2050, the Victorian Government’s long-term strategic land-use plan for metropolitan Melbourne. The intention is to deliver a ‘city of 20-minute neighbourhoods’ throughout the metropolitan area.
The 20-minute neighbourhood is all about ‘living locally’—giving people the ability to meet most of their daily needs within a 20-minute return walk from home, with access to safe cycling and local transport options.
To deliver this outcome, the program works to implement the recommendations of the 2019 Creating a More Liveable Melbourne report in the thematic areas of policy, place and partnerships.
